You're either in or out!

In case you haven't heard, The Canadian Government (Harper Government) has pledged six war planes, and some support for the ongoing sectarian conflict in Iraq. This is laughable at best.

The problem is if you're in the conflict to stop ISIS which the Canadian government claims it is; you need a better strategy that isn't "Bomb, bomb, bomb!"

War is ugly. Casualties are going to happen. It is the nature of the game.

Grandstanding is rather obnoxious. The Government of the day which is Conservative and led by Stephen Harper is basically saying we are doing this to stop the killings of innocents in Iraq.

The fact of the matter is just air warfare is not enough.

Time for some unfair comparisons. In Word War II, the Germans could not defeat the British with the bombings in London and throughout the United Kingdom. The only instance where bombing won in the War is when the United States of America dropped Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So unless you're using nuclear weapons (which Canada does not have) you ain't going to win the war by the air.

So what needs to be done?

Both the Liberal and NDP are against the Conservative government's "Bomb, bomb, bomb campaign".

Mission creep has been coming up a lot. Where the mission starts out as just one element and proceeds into other areas or it is expanded.

Respect would be given to the Conservatives aka the Government of Canada if they stated they would support: ground troops, air warfare, naval assistance and humanitarian aid.

 The fact of the matter is the United States of America could not win in Iraq. It is hard to see how this new coalition will root out ISIS.

In order to win a war you cannot be one dimensional in your warfare. You either support the four tiers being: ground, naval, air, and humanitarian or you might as well do nothing because in the long run it is just not going to matter. Troops will have to be on the ground. Casualties will occur. So the grandstanding and politics need should end. If you're committed to stopping a radical group then you need to go in all in. You cannot just dip your toe in the water to see how it feels.

It doesn't matter what political party you are a part of. If you're going to claim that you're doing this for all these noble reasons you have to commit all branches of the military, and you need to commit the humanitarian aid that is going to be needed during the conflict and after it.

The Honourable Jean Chretien has said it best: "You cannot be a little bit in it. You're in it or out."
